Explanation of Names
Pyrrhocoris apterus (Linnaeus 1758)
Native to the Palaearctic (Europe to Mongolia & China). Adventive in our area (established in Salt Lake County, UT) (Holtz 2009). As of 2018, it has evidently also become established in Ontario, Canada (images submitted to BG, iNaturalist and whatsthatbug.com).
