Explanation of Names
Cyanophrys miserabilis (Clench, 1946)
Identification
The only greenstreak in the US with a brown frons (forehead).
Range
Rare stray to south Texas, more common from northern Mexico south to Costa Rica. Map (MPG)
Habitat
Dry subtropical forest and thornscrub
Food
Adults are nectar feeders. Caterpillars host on Parkinsonia aculeata (Mexican Palo Verde) and perhaps other species in the same genus.
