Mystery on a leaf - Polypsocus corruptus

Mystery on a leaf - Polypsocus corruptus
Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 6, 2009
Size: 3-4 mm
This confused me for a while but I finally figured it was an insect I saw last year not too far away.

It was wandering around a leaf and moving from leaf to leaf.

when you hang around the foliage, ...
...it helps looking like nothing in particular: who would pay attention to a pathetic... C y p h o n?

Frankenstein
I saw a cross between a beetle and a biting midge. But such crosses are rarely viable.

you can find a psoc, a beetle, a fly all looking about the same
i think of making a few pages of such juxtapositions; may be fun
