Looks like an adult male,

and appears to be A. davisi, even though Cook County is a bit north for the species.

Atlanticus

A shieldback katydid in the genus Atlanticus. I would lean towards A. monticola, but can't be sure. Did you hear the song?

This new genus for me was a pleasant surprise. Though it looked different from anything I had seen, I had thought it was probably just a nymph of something I already had. No song heard. Thanks.
