Calliopsis (Nomadopsis) puellae face - Calliopsis puellae

Calliopsis (Nomadopsis) puellae face - Calliopsis puellae
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, San Diego County, California, USA
March 28, 2005
This bee was photographed in Borrego Palm Canyon on Desert Dandelion (Malacothrix californica) at the same time and place as bees on Desert Chicory (see image # 299983). Our field notes indicate that there were many of these bees mating on flowers of both Desert Chicory and Desert Dandelion. Possibly it is the same species of bee?

Great! I'm glad I got the picture of this face. And I'm delighted to have these bees identified to species. Thanks so much, Dr. Ascher.
