Eggs? Pupae? - Leucopis

Eggs? Pupae? - Leucopis
Mason Neck State Park, Lorton, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
July 5, 2009
Size: a few millemeters
These were clustered near the crowns of Joe Pie Weed. There were little black ants all over as well. Were they related? Are these aphid-related? It looked like the end of one was open like a flap, but they were so tiny it was hard to tell for sure.

Moved from Flies.

It is clearly a Diptera pupa
It is clearly a Diptera pupa (the white is a larva) it might be a Phorid with the large extentions, but I would need a better picture...

Oh!
Thanks! I'll try to go back soon and see if I can get better shots.
