Click Beetle - Eanus maculipennis
Lubec, Washington County, Maine, USA
July 5, 2009
Size: 5.5mm

Note, March 10, 2014
I changes the name of this species to maculipennis, as that name has priority over pictus.

and no homonyms to consider?
names as plain and straightforward as maculipennis tend to be homonymy hazard; just saying.

Eanus pictus (Candeze) [=maculipennis LeConte]
yesssss!

A good one?
Seeing this is a new species for bugguide, and only the second species in this genus in the guide, and your comment, this must be good:-)

like it a lot
small, uncommon, and easily recognizable (D&A list only LB, NB, and NY -- but UNH d'base has it)

Got
them in the White Mountains, which has many boreal relict groups.

nice to know
has 'relict' written all over it... [confession to make: first glance at the thumb made me think melandryid...]
