Cryptocephalus calidus Suffrian - Cryptocephalus calidus

Cryptocephalus calidus Suffrian - Cryptocephalus calidus
Crawford County, Missouri, USA
Det. E. G. Riley 1980

spmn in the EGRC

Cryptocephalus
this one looks more like the C. bispinus specimen you`ve added than like other C. calidus specimens in the guide

bispinus and calidus certainly are similar, but...
since Ed Riley determined this spmn, I ain't ain't gonna move it...

I understand that
but that was back in 1980. Maybe it would be interesting if Ed had a second look. It would be interesting to have the differences on pictures in the guide. Probably it is calidus and there could be characters in the picture that could distinguish it from the C. bispinus picture. It would be interesting to have those differences explained. Or maybe the two yellow patterns like this at the base of the pronotum and also the more pronounced punctures are distinctive for C. bispinus.

Or maybe I´m asking to much haha cheers

7,500 beetle spp. in TX alone...
I'd love to have all the differences explained, but it ain't gonna happen in my lifetime...
