ID for Ceratocapsus in California? - Ceratocapsus apicatus
Webb Canyon , ~2000 ft. altitude, Los Angeles County, California, USA
June 30, 2009
Size: 3.5 mm
I recently had a deceased specimen identified as C. apicatus and I believe this is the same species. Although this one was also found floating in the pool, it recovered nicely and went on its way. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that one of the wing tips was folded over on itself for most of my shots...

Mixed oak & chaparral habitat.

Great shot!
I agree with you and I think it's a female in view of the relatively oval body.

i'll submit it to Dr Henry a bit later
he's on a trip now
