I am thinking this is Buprestis striata, but looking to those more knowledgeable for an affirmative. Found in a forest clearing, then brought home, chilled, and imaged further.

Based on this picture I wouldn't rule out Buprestis sulcicollis (LeC., 1859), though it seems a little south of the expected distribution. The two are separated by the front angle of the pronotum visible from above (sulcicollis) or not (striata). The costae are also more shining on sulcicollis. Also if you check the pictures of striata you will clearly see a short costae on either side of the scutellum. It is very indistinct or absent in sulcicollis.

The more I looked at the pictures and reviewed the material the more convinced I am that it is B. sulcicollis. The fact that you still have the specimen is excellent. It is afterall a new state record according to the Catalog of the Buprestoidea of America north of Mexico.

ID for Buprestis from MA
Clearly this is Buprestis sulcicollis (LeConte).
