Black-etched Prominent - Americerura scitiscripta

Black-etched Prominent - Americerura scitiscripta
Topsfield, Washington County, Maine, USA
July 4, 2009
Size: 5mm
I saw these on a variety of hardwoods, including birch and willow.

Moved from Furcula.

All black first instar is either F. borealis or T. scitiscripta, only the latter eats willow. Birch is an unusual host plant though, I would be curious to learn more about that.
