No question about the genus after I have had a chance to check the literature. The genus is most diverse in the New World tropics, and most of the species there are black like this one.

much more interesting than Sepsidae! This is a richardiid but I am not sure which genus. Note the erect setae near the apex of the first abdominal segment. Great find!
