Wasplet - Female
Great Meadows NWR, Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 9, 2009
Size: 1.7 mm
I think it's on Purple Loosestrife.

Moved
Moved from Chalcid Wasps.

Moved from Eurytomidae. Definitely not a eurytomid.

Two different wasps…
John, I think I initially IDd the first wasp in this sequence (#301648), then you added the three other images to the right after the fact, thinking they were of the same wasp. If you look closely at the head, neck, eyes, and abdomen, you will see the differences. The first image is of a eurytomid, the other images are of a pteromalid as Miles has indicated.

Moved from Eurytomidae.

mmm
Looks quite different from the Eurytomids I am used to seeing, I'd say Pteromalidae...

Eurytomidae…
The dull black coloration, semi-quadrate and punctate head, hairy antennae and thorax, and oval and compressed abdomen indicate a chalcid wasp in this subfamily. This is a female.
