Larva pics
As I said, the pics I have of the larva are quite blurred, (no time to get the tripod!) but you can see what it 'generally' looks like. I will post them anyway, as soon as I prepare them.

Quite the sight
You've been watching the emergence of a Mantis Fly in the family Mantispidae. They're very cool, and I believe the larvae can be parasitic on spiders!

Thanks very much Will. It was quite a site to behold. I retrieved the larva from my cats feeding tray(!) and almost tossed it before I noticed it was very much alive. I can't imagine how it got in there other than coming in on the cat...(?) Thanks again for the ID. This is a great website!
