Tiny Beetle - Anisoxya glaucula

Tiny Beetle - Anisoxya glaucula
Alexandria, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
July 11, 2009
Size: 2 mm
Hanging out on the brick under my patio light tonight.

Anisoxya glaucula
i asked Darren Pollock to check it, 'cuz the size is below of what D&A indicate for this sp., to which he retorted, "Hey, good call! It is a little shy of average size (some kind of larval abuse as a youngster?), but I'm almost certain that's what it is."

Moved from False Darkling Beetles.

Hah - nice.
Thanks! I did stick a ruler up next to it to make sure of the measurement. =)

very nice indeed -- we had but one prior to this
accurate size data always helps -- not that i'm asking you to go out of your way to put the ruler next to every bug, but pls be aware i wouldn't mind one bit...

I wouldn't mind, either
and need to get a more portable ruler than my wooden foot-long. Sometimes I have the flash in one hand and the camera in the other, though - that makes it difficult. :-/

If they're on my screen, though, they're much easier to measure, since I did this. =)

i totally understand and don't insist
metric rulers are often printed on margins of notebooks/business planners/pocket calendars & other such courtesy junk that piles up in many homes -- cut a 3-cm piece to cover all our needs

Good point!
Thanks! =)

nice -- maybe a new-to-BG melandryid
