Years ago I started noticing webs in my Japanese Maple tree. Every year, more webs, until I also noticed the tree starting to die. When a late freeze took half my tree, what literally looked like hundreds of webs appeared all over the tree limbs. Now , there are probably a dozen. In the early morning hours you can see the webs better because of the dew. We like call them the spider condominiums. LOL.
What type of spider is making these webs ?

That's really neat. I think these are basilica spider webs. If I'm right, if you look closely at those broad domes (of which four are visible in this photo), you will see that each is a very tightly woven orb web. (If you're unfamiliar with the term, an orb web is the classic type of spider web composed of a spiral built on a framework of strands radiating from a central "hub.")
