V - should this vespiforme page be deleted?

sure
actually, in cases like this i simply rename and update the existing page...

Temnostoma vespiforme
Double-checked the collection and realized my specimens are of species [ivespiforme[/i]. Moved from Temnostoma alternans.

native/holarctic? adventive?
range lists Europe only in(1) --and this site is pretty accurate as far as nearctic syrphids are concerned; so i wonder what's its status in NA...

Curran 1939 separates Temnost
Curran 1939 separates Temnostoma excentrica (native) from T. vespiforme (European, according to Systema Dipterorum) based on femoral color - entirely yellow in T. excentrica, basally black in T. vespiforme, especially the front femora. Unless it's a shadow, the basal part of the front femur here does look black, so this might be T. vespiforme. T. vespiforme is listed on Skevington's Ontario pages, but not in the Key to the Genera of Nearctic Syrphidae (2013), and it's not listed in Shannon 1939's key.

This is Temnostoma excentrica
I discuss the nomenclature of vespiforme/excentrica under one of the other photos of this species. Temnostoma excentrica is the New World equivalent of the Old World vespiforme.
