Orius insidiosus

Orius insidiosus
Columbia, Boone County, Missouri, USA
July 11, 2009
Size: around 1.5 mm
This little beauty was found on my rose bush. Seems to have some kind of prey in this shot... Couldn't even see it when I was actually taking the picture...

could you please elaborate how the ID was obtained?
thanks

Sure...
According to both various publications as well as area entomologists, it's the only species of Orius known to be found in my area.

Also, I've collected several of the specimens in attempts of establishing a colony. Unless we have something like what happened with Shapiro as far as the O. pumilio mishap goes, I'm fairly certain these are insidiosus. Hope that clears things up a bit. Lemme know if I can clear things up more though.

thanks for the explaning this to my full satisfaction!

haha,
Not a problem :)

are you implying you made the whole thing up?
:-]

oh dang...
Foiled again. :P

The people at ARS keep asking me that same question whenever I try to ID bugs for them...

let's both get used to it then
:-]
