Erythroneura? - Erythroneura vitifex

Erythroneura? - Erythroneura vitifex
Alexandria, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
July 15, 2009
If it is, it's the strongest colored one I've seen yet. Very orangey. Attracted to my patio light tonight.

Just curious...
But how do you get such clear pictures at night? Are you using a separate lighting fixture or something? I can never get good shots at night...

And I agree as far as that common name goes...

Thanks to both!
I have my flash unit on a cord so it's not right on top of my camera. It also has a white plastic diffuser over it. Of course this operation requires two hands, which makes measuring difficult, but I'm figuring ways around that!

haha
nice, might have to give something like that a try.

It works surprisingly well!
This setup, except now I have a new flash unit - a Canon one. Works much better than one made before digital cameras even existed. ;-)

Nice!
Something else to add to my future equipment list... Think I should get a real camera first though, haha.

You'll note mine
is not what "real" photographers consider a "real" camera, but I'm quite pleased with its output. ;-)

beautiful bug
Beautiful pic. I vote we give it the common name "Tangerine Parfait Leafhopper".
