dark grasshopper - Trimerotropis verruculata - male

dark grasshopper - Trimerotropis verruculata - Male
Pack Forest, Pierce County, Washington, USA
July 11, 2009

Moved from Short-horned Grasshoppers.

Thanks to you both, and it did have a yellow wing, which I should have mentioned.

Can't always get them from one view like this
but this one is a male Trimerotropis verruculata ssp. suffusa.

Probably a species of Trimerotropis. Would need well-lit lateral shots to be sure...I know, not nearly as easy as it sounds!:-)
