cicada - Neotibicen canicularis

cicada - Neotibicen canicularis
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
August 31, 2005
Size: body 25mm approx.
I want to know how much McDonalds paid to place its logo on this insect. And to whom was it paid?

The burger giant obviously cut a sweeter deal in South America, where the golden arches are very prominent.

This is the first cicada I've had come to UV lights in North America. It didn't move the whole time I saw it.

McDonald's arches...
Its funny you should mention that. A person found a cicada (T. chloromera from the looks of it) and decided to put it on ebay. First starting bid with a buy it now price of $500,000.00 of course it didn't sell. Second time around with a starting bid of only $25,000.00 and finally it did sell for $3.25. Link is here.

This is a common mark on most species of cicadas it's just not as prominent on some as it is on others.

Oh, and this specimen looks to be T. canicularis a female. If you had a wing length then it can be confirmed.

Thanks Gerry
I'll re-label my pix.
