Size: 20 mm
A large nest bound queen. Colony had about 90 workers
5 or 6 V. maculifrons workers were also found in the colony

If I understand correctly
V. flavopilosa queens typically usurp (or in other words take over) V. maculifrons nests in the early stages while there are only 4 or 5 workers. If this is true, then the nest goes from a maculifrons colony to a flavopilosa colony, with workers of each species until the left over maculifrons workers die of old age.
