Brimstone Clubtail - Stylurus intricatus - female

Brimstone Clubtail - Stylurus intricatus - Female
Roswell - east side, Chaves County, New Mexico, USA
July 6, 2009
Size: Overall length 41 to 55mm
This is considered to be a "hanging clubtail". The pale color made it difficult to see, as this one slowly moved in and out of low clumps of dry weeds. The female appears to be a weak flyer, whereas the male is reported to be very active. They land on grass leafs or limber weed stems and chose one that bends downward to put them in a "hanging" position.
