White-fringed Beetle

Just needing a little help here. I'm trying to create a guide page for this beetle, but can't figure out the correct classification. I read this "They belong to subfamily Entiminae, tribe Naupactini, and most of them have been assigned to Naupactus" here. My Peterson Guide says it's subfamily Thylacitinae? Can someone with a decent reference give me the correct subfamily?

Current Coleopteran Taxonomy
Lynette,

Your Peterson Guide was published in 1983 and is now out of date.

For current taxonomy, see:

American Beetles, Volumes I (2000) & II (2002)

classification - appended
TheWhite fringed beetles are considered part of the Broad-nosed weevils (Curculionidae: Entiminae: Naupactini) in American Beetles(1). Will be updating the guide for the Curculionidae today.

Updated subfamilies and added genus for you

On another beetle question
Mike Quinn has recently been posting Chrysomelid determinations by EGRiley (Search on EGRiley to see all the recent IDs.) A number of them show subfamily differences from what is on BugGuide. We asked Mike to post a reference so BugGuide can compare what it has to what Dr Riley is using. We'll probably need you to look at it when it comes in and see how or if BugGuide should adapt its Chrysomelid taxonomy. Thanks,
See Mike's response on (1)

Flea beetle classification
I've been getting identifications from Mike Quinn for several Flea Beetles that Bugguide has under Alticinae. From the references that Mike gives, it appears that there's a newer classification, listed under Galerucinae » Alticini.
I've been placing the new id's under Galerucinae » Alticini, so my question is, should I continue, and if so, should all the other flea beetles be moved also?

Genera of Tribe Alticini
These are the genera of Alticini per Riley et al, 2003:

Blepharida
Phydanis
Luperaltica
Phyllotreta
Longitarsus
Systena
Glenidion
Syphrea
Altica
Orthaltica
Crepidodera
Trichaltica
Mantura
Chaetocnema
Disonycha
Monomacra
Asphaera
Oedionychis
Sphaeronychus
Dibolia
Heikertingerella
Argopistes
Psylliodes

Naupactini.
The Brazilian reference is correct, for now:-) Pest species tend to get reclassified a lot it seems. Check Cranshaw's book on Garden Insects of North America. Pretty sure he lists all the former names for the whitefringed beetle.
