Noctuid, I guess. Couldn't find anything too similar while browsing. Any thoughts?

C. erechtea
I have been thru boxes of Caenurgina at Cornell, male erechtea are mouse gray color, the AM dark area does not touch the inner margin of the FW. Besides dissection, ID can be made by brushing the scales off the terminal end of the abdomen (which I did to all the male C. erechtea at Cornell). Female C. erechtea are brown and faintly marked.
This is most likely C. erechtea.

Yes
I agree with you. I had already moved it to the erechtea species page back in 2009 where it has been ever since. Didn't need the double move, but the comments adding a third vote for erechtea are always good to have.

I thought I found it on the Caenurgina page, not the C. erechtea page, but I'd been looking thru all those pages, so my mistake!

No worries
No worries, I do it too sometimes. Your additional comments are good to have though. :-)

Probably Forage Looper Moth (Caenurgina erechtea)
This looks almost exactly like a moth that I posted on here a few weeks ago and was identified as that species. http://bugguide.net/node/view/302889

Caenurgina spp.
...someone else will probably offer a specific ID. (no rsvp, thanks)
