Moth with wings closed -
Stamnodes marmorata
Rocky Mountain National Park, Larimer County, Colorado, USA
June 20, 2009
Probably difficult to identify with the wings folded, but it would not open. Seen in early morning on a lighted building in Moraine Park campground.

based on location - more likely S. watsoni
The type locality of the name is Estes Park.
However, it also seems likely that
S. watsoni
should be a synonym of
S. marmorata

Thanks!
I have been trying to identify another moth from the very next morning from under the same light. These were everywhere, and
this one
also had a similar pattern on the outside, although I can't guarantee it was the same species (memory may be bad and I couldn't get a picture of the outside because it remained opened). Hopefully this information is helpful.
