Red Head Black Body - Asphaera lustrans

Red Head Black Body - Asphaera lustrans
Outside Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA
July 20, 2009
Size: Less than 1/2 inch long
I found these two bugs on the underside of a leaf. It was a few steps from a creek. I have not been able to find anything to identify them. The closest I have found is podagrica fuscicornis which only occur in Europe I think. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not an ID -
but please see, for example, our images of Asphaera lustrans - Shining Flea Beetle. There may be other look-alike beetles, though - please wait for an expert to comment.
