Melyrid from Grassland west of Chiricahuas.
This is a female of Collops flavicinctus Fall. The species can be found throughout much of the west, and as with many Collops species, often associated with the bloom spikes of various grasses. The distribution includes Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. It is similar at least in color pattern to Collops limbellus. The two can be easily distinguished by the erect hairs on the elytra, pale in C. flavicinctus and black in C. limbellus.
