Perhaps a Delphacid planthopper?

Pintalia
A Cixiid - the antennae are short and stubby.

There are only 3 described species in North America, and none have the bold patterns on the head and wings that this specimen shows. I hope you still have the specimen!

I thought it was just another Pintalia vibex with an odd posture.
