I would go with Paracantha
I would go with a female Paracantha gentilis Hering, 1940.

No, this is culta, gentilis is more west and stops where the Rockies end, and gentilis has a patch of black setae next to the lower black spot on the face and the upper spot on the head is circular in gentilis and rectangular in culta...

Okay, great to know! Foote an
Okay, great to know! Foote and Blanc gives the range of P. gentilis as being east to Kansas. Actually, Foote and Blanc indicate that the patch of stiff black hairs on the gena is present in P. genalis and absent in P. gentilis. So now I'm confused.

thanks + question
It seems pretty likely that any additional Paracantha I photo around here would also be culta then? Thanks for your help with all the pics.

most should be culta, there i
most should be culta, there is an outside chance that cultaris could be found in KS...

on MO border
I'm on the Missouri border if that makes a difference? Guess it depends if cultaris is more western or eastern.

cultaris is a western species
cultaris is a western species, the most eastern records are from central KS and western TX, so this makes it more likely that they are all culta! forficula is in FL; genalis and gentilis are western...

thanks for the help
Very much appreciated.
This ID makes sense geographically. Saw this one on two surrounding states map data. Looks like this might be the first Kansan for BG.
