Goldenrod gall mystery - Galeopsomyia

Goldenrod gall mystery - Galeopsomyia
Pennypack Restoration Trust, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
July 22, 2009
Size: Gall 4 mm
These little goldenrod blister galls are full of surprises; in addition to the gall maker midge and several parasitoid pupae, I found these little balls (less than 1 mm) that I have no idea what they are.

Moved from Unsolved bug-related mysteries.
It parasitizes Asphondylia solidaginis forming galls within galls. Dr. Netta Dorchin, e-mail communication.

Moved from ID Request.
