Tiny Metallic Blue-Green Weevil - Ischnopterapion virens - female

Tiny Metallic Blue-Green Weevil - Ischnopterapion virens - Female
Alexandria, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
July 25, 2009
Size: 3 mm incl. proboscis
I was pulling weeds out of a friend's driveway when I noticed a couple of these had popped out with the scattered dirt from the roots. I think it was an English Plantain I had pulled just then, if that matters.

Great, thank you!
There is certainly enough white clover in the yard it was found near, though I found them in cracks in the concrete on the driveway.

Moved tentatively
these are tough -- i'll have to check with books & people (nobody seems to be studying this vast group in N.America these days). Please keep taking/posting pix of them, Ashley!
