Cactus dodger.
Great image of one of the "cactus dodgers" in the genus Cacama. You may want a second opinion on the genus ID, and maybe get a species ID, too, from Andy Hamilton.

Cacama crepitans
There are 3 species in CA, of which this has the darkest spots on the wing tips.
