Bee Fly - Anthrax argyropygus

Bee Fly - Anthrax argyropygus
Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, USA
September 9, 2005
I found what I think is a match on the web at http://www.giffbeaton.com/Bee%20Flies.htm, but it was identified only as Bombylius sp.

Moved
Moved from Bee Flies.

Not Bombylius.
This is not a Bombylius sp. I'd say it is probably in the genus Anthrax, many of which are parasites of cavity-nesting solitary wasps or bees. Nice image of a pretty fresh specimen, so a bee fly expert might be able to give you a more specific ID.

Anthrax analis?
Compare Anthrax analis shown at Insects of Cedar Creek.
