Sapygid Wasp in California - Eusapyga verticalis - male

Sapygid Wasp in California - Eusapyga verticalis - Male
Webb Canyon, ~2000 ft. altitude, Los Angeles County, California, USA
May 6, 2009
Size: ~11 mm
A close-up of the face and antennae. I determined that this specimen was a male due to the presence of an extra flagellomere. (Females should have a total of 10, while males have 11.)
