fasciatus. The other banded species cruciatus as newly defined does not occur in NY. Very nice.

Great photos.
Maybe Ceraturgus cruciatus or Ceraturgus fasciatus? At the bottom is the only photo on the images page for cruciatus. I know little about them right now, purely a guess. They do look slightly different to me.

Here (click) is the Asilidae images page. You can tag your robber ID request images and move them to that page. The robber fly experts might have time to help ID them there. I see you posted quite a few.
