Striped bug - banded laurel borer? - Rosalia funebris

Striped bug - banded laurel borer? - Rosalia funebris
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
July 27, 2009
Size: @1.5in, not inc antenne
The bug was on this tree and I think had been living there for a little while (housemate said she saw it before. I found it the day after taking the photo, dead on the ground with the back of its thorax eaten out. I think its a banded laurel borer.
