Sierolomorpha, female (WI)

Moved from Ants, Bees, Wasps and Sawflies. Yes, it is Sierolomorpha, the only genus in this family. Congratulations, great find!

Sierolomorpha canadensis (Provancher, 1888)

Sierolomorpha canadensis based on Evans key to the females. The strong constriction between the first and second tergites; the yellow-brown legs, tarsi and basal antennal segments; and the divergent notauli all point to this species.

Very exciting!

This is an example of the family Sierolomorphidae. I know! I'd never heard of it, either. LOL! Just outstanding pictures that leave little doubt, though I'd like to see confirmation from George Waldren, Matthias Buck, or one of the other folks who knows a lot more than I do:-) Congrats (pending confirmation, I guess) for the first images of a live one for Bugguide.
