Moved
Moved from Gelechioidea.
Given that the species has been confirmed in North America, I think this is a reasonable place for these photos.
Edit: ID confirmed by Terry Harrison.

Still leaning toward Elachistidae but I just checked all the images at BOLD for Elachista and came up empty. Not all together sure Incurvarioidea can be eliminated.

Elachistidae?
Looks like something in or close to Elachista but I am very unsure I even have the right family.

bird dropping mimic
It seems like it would be easy to figure out, but I couldn't find a match from some quick browsing.

European Ash Bud moth Prays fraxinella
I received an email today from Steven Whitebread saying "This specimen appears to be the European Ash Bud moth Prays fraxinella." I looked up images of that species on other websites and it sure does look like it to me. What do you think?

Could Be
Well that's too bad if true. It should be reported but I don't know how that is done in Canada. Check out this article here on invasive species from British Columbia where they found this species and identification was supported by DNA barcoding.

That paper (cited on the guide page)...
actually notes that Prays fraxinella was reared from ash in Newfoundland in 1975. So this is not a new arrival.
