Sand Flea - Talitridae ?

Sand Flea - Talitridae ?
Baiting Hollow, Suffolk County, New York, USA
July 30, 2009
Found on a salt water beach.
I almost gave up trying to get a picture of these as they jumped and scurried for cover under pebbles.
While this isn't a great photo it feels like a giant accomplishment.
We always called these "sand fleas."

Uhlorchestia uhleri?
Not an expert ID. See my most recent comment here for an explanation. Your photo happens to capture the second antennae, which happen to be the most important parts for any talitrid ID, in sufficient detail.

not an expert, but...
I don't know what else it could be. :) There is a section in the Guide here if you didn't know. I've got one in there as well. Maybe down the road we can recruit a coastal expert who can help us type them out.
