size? plain dorsal? reminds me of Holcostethus limbolarius...
...but i don't know what else of this general looks the W.Coast may harbor (well, perhaps some Chlorochroa, but unlikely...)

 
The same yard had this one

For the current specimen, by measuring the original photo, which has part of a finger in it, body length without antennae is 0.283 in. (7.2 mm).

This stinkbug is secondary to the questions here. We're trying to find out whether some other specimens are stinkbug nymphs or shield-backed bugs.
