Size: 8mm head to wing tips.
Is there an easy way to tell a midge from a crane fly? I seem unable to tell the difference. Sitting on the side of a house. Can the sex of this one be identified?

Crane flies have a V shaped suture in the thorax.

Females have sharp-tipped abdomens, males have the usual nematoceran claspers.
