If you know the host plant, a further ID may be possible.

 
Rabbitbrush
These were all over rabbitbrush in the area.

 
Hmm...
There are several well-studied Trirhabda species that feed on rabbitbrush, but I think those are all shiny green like this one.

I saw larvae like yours on rabbitbrush last summer, but didn't see any associated adults. Moving to family page for now.
