Need ID - Panorpa debilis - Male
Beaver Lake Nature Center near Baldwinsville, Onondaga County, New York, USA
August 8, 2009
I found several of these near the edge of a mowed meadow between a hardwood and a red pine forest. I assumed some sort of borer with that elongated snout, but while the wings might be like those of some clearwing moth, the body is almost wasp-like. Help!

Moved from Panorpa neglecta.

Based on the locality, season
Based on the locality, season, the lack of a submarginal spot, shape of the basal band, and well-defined thin wing markings this is likely Panorpa debilis.
