7990 -- White-blotched Heterocampa -- Heterocampa umbrata
.... looks most likely to me.

Thanks for ID, Bob.

Re: Heterocampa umbrata
I thought heterocampa umbrata had smooth antennae, not feathered. Do they vary in this trait?

Bipectinate in Males.........
I'm not certain if females have simple antennae.

Thank you Bob. It feels great to have a name to stick on the image.

Prominent moth.
It is going to be a prominent (family Notodontidae), as evidenced by the way the antennae taper at the end. Very nice image showing that character. Should be able to get a species from one of our moth experts.

Thanks Eric
I was there to collect beetles as a member of the biosurvey team, but a few moths showed up that were worth using up some digital film on ;-)
