Convergent Lady Beetle for August in VA - Hippodamia convergens

Convergent Lady Beetle for August in VA - Hippodamia convergens
Chester, Chesterfield County, Virginia, USA
August 8, 2009
Size: 10 mm
The beetle is consuming aphid juices from my hand (the plant had so many aphids, just touching the stem crushed them onto my fingers). It seems to be using brushlike mouthparts here, but it also caught live prey with its mandibles.
