Red Lady Beetle? - Cycloneda sanguinea

Red Lady Beetle? - Cycloneda sanguinea
Piney Point, Manatee County, Florida, USA
August 10, 2009

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Should be Cycloneda sanguinea
Should be Cycloneda sanguinea given that it is in florida, I myself live in seminole county, central florida.

agreed
The black thorax segment (pronotum) with curved white marks surrounding a single spot are the key feature for ID of C. sanguinea. So is the rather light, orangey red color; other Cycloneda species tend to be a darker ruby-red.
