Tulip-tree Beauty Moth - Epimecis hortaria - Epimecis hortaria - Fort Washington , Prince George’s County, Maryland, USA August 11, 2009 Size: 3x2 inches
OK… IDing these guys isn’t getting easier. This is a fairly large moth, the wings are completely spread open, and the hind-wings are pointy. From the silhouette it seems to be Geometrid Silhouette 2. Where do I go from here? The closest match is a granite moth but the wing pattern on my moth seems linear and not splotchy.
I have a few more questions. I notice most people sign their pics, is that really necessary or desirable? Many of my pics are full frame, so they are naturally a 4x6 format. To make them square, I have to add negative space to the short side… is that what you want me to do? I welcome any suggestions that will make my moth pics more useful to the guide.
