The added view
really reinforces the impression that this is M. confusus. Still not positive, but pretty sure.

 
The dark middorsal stripe
is more pronounced than the others collected, so confusus seems a good choice. The new protocol from now on will be 4 males for every female when sampling an area, just to make IDs easier.

female Melanoplus are difficult
this could be M. sanguinipes, perhaps a late M. confusus or perhaps another.
