If you look above any image at the string of taxonomy
or click on Info or Images, you can always tell where each of your images is placed. This image was in the guide under Dragonflies (Suborder Anisoptera). We first went through all the images on that base page and tagged all those that were Skimmers and moved them to the Libellulidae (Family) page. Then we went through all the images on the Libellulidae page and tagged all that were Meadowhawks and moved them to the Sympetrum (Genus) page. That's where your image is now. If someone can identify which Sympetrum species this is, it will be moved to the species page. The string of Taxonomy above this image previously stopped at Anisoptera. For a brief time, in between moves, it ended at Libellulidae. Now it includes Sympetrum. And at some point in the future it will go all the way to species or species group.

Meadowhawk.
Female or immature male in the genus
Sympetrum
. Jury is still out on how to tell these apart in many cases.
